Products I use

I like to optimize for price/performance most of the times. Except for a few special cases where I demand teh highest quality w/o compromises. Being a designer also means I enjoy visual beauty.

Workstation

  • 14” MacBook Pro, M2 Pro, 32GB RAM (2023)

I was using an older 2013 Intel-based MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I’ve never heard the fans turn on a single time. This thing is a beast!

  • Dell Ultrasharp U27D

A a large hihg-quality monitor is potentiall the single biggest productivity increase you can get. I also care a lot about color correctness and general sharpness of the display. In terms of price-preformance nothing comes close - the pure performance is on par with the Apple Studio Displays that sell fpr 5x more. With the USB-C charger there's a single cable I use for charging and display.

  • Apple Magic Keyboard

I tried the fancy mechanical keyboards - particularly liked the design of Numpy Air75 low profile ones. But the usability of the Magic Keyboards are so good I always switched back.

  • Logitech MX Master mouse

This is hands down the best mouse on the market. Appearantly Logitech spent years developing the most ergonomical mouse ever. And boy did they succeed. Horizontal scrolls won't bother you anymore with these.

  • Custom made standing desk

The center piece of my office. Custom built from a motorized leg ($200 on Amazon) and an IKEA butcher block (these are made for countertops - aka they are as sturdy as is gets.) Completed the look with cable management (a dangerous rabbit hole) and LED strips under the desk and behind the monitor for backlighting at night.

  • Herman Miller Aeron Chair

    Still testing these.

  • Aeris Muvmat standing mat

    Lorem ipsum dolor si amet.

  • Sony MDR-7506 Headphones

Studio level sound quality and comfort for $90. Need that bass to listen to Kygo.

  • Opal C1 webcamera

If you don't want to go full DSLR, then this is the closest it gets.

  • Shure MV7 Microphone

If you watch Joe Rogan, or almost any major podcasts for that matter, they will use the Shure SMB7 microphone. The MV7 is its little brother - almost as good, but half the price and easy uscb-c connectivity.

  • Elgato Microphone Arm

The trick with these high quality microphones is that you need to hold it close to you mounth for that clear, professional sound. Therefore an arm is almost necessary. You will adjust the arm back and forth a lot, so you gotta go for the quality here. I tried some of the cheaper ones and they ruin the whole thing.

Software

  • VS Code

Powerful features, great UX, great UI - what else can you ask for.

  • Figma

The default software for my design work.

  • Raycast

Spotlight on steroids. I especially like the window moving/resizing shortcuts.

  • Obsidian

Notetaking level 99. I always liked the idea of graph based notetakking, but never made the leap to Roam. Obsidian is similar, but runs locally. Complete control, completely free. I dig the desgin as well.

  • Signal

Completely private messaging. So provite even SBF got away mostly because the entire org ran on Signal, therefore noone could prove anything.

Nutrition

  • Maurten

Ever wondered why lately almost all long endurance sport records are being broken? Well Maurten in my opinion plays a big part. You can consume up to 100g of cabs per hour with no stomach issues. Complete game-changer.

  • Swiss RX Multi Vitamins

    Still testing these.

  • Swiss RX Immunity Defense

Great for the winter month when you want to avoid getting sick.

Sport

  • Canyon

    Best price performace bikes.

  • Polar

    Lorem ipsum dolor si amet

  • Supersapiens

Continous glocose monitoring that I tried. Super interesting, but I didn't have any issues so not using all the time. Probably will test for at least 2 weeks every year or if I optimize for high performance.

  • Roka

Awesome top quality sports gear - especially swim gear and sunglasses.

Clothing

  • Thursday Boots

Best price/quality sneakers I found. They look awesome too.

  • Cuts t-shirts

I'm in t-shirt all the time. Especially love the simple white tees. Cuts is extremely good quality.

  • Wyr t-shirts

The best price/performance t-shirts I found so far. Simple. Athletic fit. Get's the job done.
